The candidate has a proven ability to manage cross-functional program teams and drive results forward. Responsibilities include the use of best practices for planning and tracking novel therapeutic development programs, management of BLA activities, setting priorities, and managing the team to deliver results. The candidate will be a team player with well-developed skills for gaining the cooperation of others and ensuring effective communication among team members.

Reporting to the Program Lead for the TED portfolio, the Director, Program Management will have accountability for the overall coordination and planning for programs of large scope, budget and strategic importance. In this role, the program manager will partner with the Program Lead and work with the teams to ensure appropriate and timely decision-making, efficient execution, facilitate setting of priorities, risk management and managing the team to deliver results.  Communication of progress, highlighting risks, development of timelines and elevation of challenges to stakeholders is a key component of success.

This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees follow a hybrid in-office schedule. Remote work is allowed, and the frequency is at the discretion of management.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Lead the design and execution of cross-functional program plans for Viridians late phase TED program. This will involve the mapping of activities in support of pivotal trial execution and BLA preparations with a variety of program management tools
  • Maintain frequent communication with the cross-functional program team members and key internal stakeholders so that all parties are aware of current program status, issues, contingencies, and milestones
  • Prepare summary information on program progress, prepare dashboards, manage timeline updates and risk assessments for periodic presentations to stakeholders, including the Executive Leadership Team
  • With team members and in accordance with corporate objectives, facilitate the setting of program strategy including objectives, key milestones and scope
  • Lead team meetings and ensures that clear actions and decisions are documented, communicated, and committed to, enabling timeline adherence
  • Build strong working relationships across departments, with key stakeholders, and Senior Management to ensure transparency and to facilitate communication
  • Support the Program Governance model, and foundations for program management practices and principles within Viridian

Qualifications:

  • Requires a BA/BS in life sciences or equivalent with scientific knowledge or experience and at least 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical/drug development program management. Advanced degree and/or PMP certification desired
  • Prior experience in management of activities supporting a BLA desired
  • Must be an innovative, driven, highly organized self-starter with the ability to handle multiple activities and comfortable interacting with all levels of management within the company
  • Expert level knowledge of project management methodology, including advanced skills in developing Gannt Charts and asset timelines
  • Extensive intermediate to advanced computer skills (Power Point, Excel, Word, MS Project, SharePoint).
  • Skilled in risk management and contingency planning
  • Extensive experience with research and development budgeting for novel therapeutics and ability to review and explain variances from approved budgets
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including people management in a matrixed organizational structure, time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Willing and able to learn new skills to meet changing needs of the organization
  • Ability to travel 5-10%
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
